21, you realize you can take down your own posts. Much easier for you to do that than have people mass report it

Sometimes it seems that the players around 600-700 come up with a lot of really nice moves. I wonder if the same thing happens at lower ratings.

Cherry-Blossom46

I'm a low rating and people often make stupid moves that normally work in there favor if the other person does stupid moves to

Cherry-Blossom46

I'm a higher rating then my brother and i've only been here for 2 days, so I think I'm in an okay spot

I've had several games recently start off with these 3 moves (I'm black). I can't find any database games that start this way. Where did this idea come from?

I remember being frustrated when I was stuck at 1300-1400 at one point. How old are you?

Scholar's mate without moving the Bishop first?

You need talent to be good at chess. Training will not do it if you lack talent.

You don't need any talent to reach something like 1000.

Those people who are stuck at 200 are there because they don't even try to play good moves. They just play random moves and then complain.

When I spend a lot of time in the 600's my opponents are making 75-80% correct moves. Is there any way someone with a 600 rating should be making that many correct moves?

Accuracy has been changed in 2021. or something like that in order to not get like 20 accuracy any more. My 20 accuracy games from back then are now in the 50s and 60s.

Basically accuracy has been remade partly in order to make lower level players feel better.
For instance, your game against Oiligriv1981. You are better then you drop a piece, then another, then there are several slightly off moves, then you miss mate in 1 that would win you the game, then you drop a rook and the game still says you have 70 accuracy, and your opponent has slightly better accuracy.

In reality, both of you made several blunders and played in accordance to your rating, while this high accuracy is misleading you into believing your opponents are playing well.

I had a game where my opponent made 3 blunders in around 10 moves and resigned the game. The game still gave him some high accuracy and around 1 300 estimated rating, which is ridiculous.

My advice is not to view those too seriously. Those are interesting too look at, but that is it. What should you look? Look at the engine evaluations after the game, and how they change. When they change more dramatically, try to figure out why.

For a player at your level, the best way to improve is to learn basic opening principles:

1. develop quickly. Don’t move a piece a second time (unless it is attacked) until you have developed all of your pieces.

2. occupy/control the center

3. castle Quickly.

then, play over some master games that illustrate these principles.

When you play games of your own, use a slower time control so you have time to think.

Concentrate on following the basics. Also, be sure to check your opponent’s threats after every move.

just doing these should be worth a 300-500 rating.

I keep losing, and I've been stuck below 200 elo for months, I'm starting to think I'm beyond help. I'm not improving, and this is taking a huge toll on my self-esteem. I don't know if I can do this anymore.

Accuracy is subjective to your level. When you are playing against 600s they are not playing challenging enough moves to drop your accuracy too much and vice versa. If I play against a sub 1000 player I would be surprised if I didn't hold 90% accuracy. Whereas when I play people at my rating I'm unlikely to have accuracy that high because they play moves that challenge me.
