On browser: can't place any pieces. (if could then scrolling the screen up and down constantly would be too irritating anyway)

You must mean that you hope that the phone apps catch up to the website in functionality.

Or the website is updated for better mobile chrome use. It is for the most part, but clearly there's more work to be done when a chess variant is, literally, impossible to play.
