Interface explanation needed

Hello Chess.com Community!

Being one of the many new members from the recent chess wave I am in need of some basic explanations of the interface of a chess game, here on chess.com. For instance: what exactly does the + and - number mean with each move? What are those 3 lines you see when you have analysed your game and you are checking your move? (I figured it's the 3 best options to make? But how can I best see where they lead to according to the computer?)

In short, I'm looking for some video or explanation of the very basics of the chess.com interface. The tutorials I found were about how many levels deep you want to go and which engine you want to use. This is too advanced for me right now.

I am sure there must be some simple guide here on chess.com, but I can't see to find it.

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Hi there!! If it's an the best interest for you, you may want to go to chess lessons. If you go to the Learn tab on your left, you can see all of these chess lessons. All of those under the Learn tab are helpful to become a better chess player. If you need to see the rules and get the feel of how the game actually works, go to the More tab on your left and go to Rules. Learning Rules can answer some questions above. If you REALLY want to learn more and become a better player, consider getting a Membership. There are Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Memberships. You get the most out of a Diamond Membership, a Platinum Membership also gives you a lot, and a Gold Membership gives you some. But all are worth it. Chess Coaches are also a great way to learn. If you go to the Connect Tab, and then got to Coaches, you can find a Coach just right for you. These are, of course, just suggestions!! If you need any help, contact Chess.com!!

Hi there, thanks for the reply.
I am already working through the lessons, but haven't found anything about the chess.com interface (see questions in original post). The rules are also clear. I am also a payed member already.
The question remains: is there a guide on how to interpret the chess.com interface, as stated above.

Kind regards

The site has a YouTube channel that has some tutorials: https://youtu.be/Cwf-txEEcS0

Here is a Help article that includes a video on analysis.

julianpetschek

THAT LAST LINK IS NOT HELPFUL IS IS JUST EXPLAINING ONE FEATURE OF THE ANALYSIS TOOLS PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO EXPLAINING THE INTERFACE IN GENERAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

greengoon99

Agreed Julian.

Berneri

a positive evaluation/plus favors White, and a negative/minus evaluation favors Black. zero (0.0) means the position is even

however, not all GUIs have the same ratings when it comes to analyzing positions. what i said is just general terms. in Deep Shredder for example, it has the following ratings:

The Position is even

White/Black stands slightly better

White/Black has the upper hand

White/Black has decisive advantage

White/Black is winning

Thank you,

is it possible to see my accuracy or if I am winning during the game or that is illegal and not part of GUI?

C9_Narwhal

its illegal
