Is saying gg when wining considered bad?

I thought saying gg(good game) was a sign of good sportsmanship, but looks like some people think it's like insulting your opponent if he lose. Some people may take it as sarcasm, but what if he is saying by his heart as their are no facial expression while saying gg some people might take it the wrong way.

I often say gg if having a tough fight no matter wining or losing, and I say with my heart not trying to be mean but looks like many people don't like it.

But looks like people don't think same as us, look at screenshot.

I like to say it , but yeah I think people can take it sarcasm so I avoid saying it when I win easily , also I will definitely say it if I lost due to a beautiful move by my opponent

In today’s world everything you say or do will offend someone. Don’t worry about it , GG!

WowThisIsWeird

I say gg all the time. If you lose it's like, Thanks for playing, I will learn from my mistakes and thus improve.

If you win, it's like, Thanks for playing, you still played nicely.

idk why people assume the gg is sarcasm

Chessrocks18

I say gg whether or not I win or lose because if it is challenging it is still a gg! It is not always about winning, but learning!

Honestly I just say gg before I resign. I never say gg before I win the game.

I always say GG, win or lose. To me it's basically the same as a handshake at the end of a game. I find it a bit rude when ppl don't bother to reply, but that seems to be quite common.

Some people are just offended too easily, for no reason.

Chess.com would not create a “good game” thropy if good game meant something negative.

True

"Good game" means the same kind of thing as "well played." It was a good chess game, meaning that both sides played well.

Nobody is talking about typing gg after the game. The point is around those who have a winning position and type gg before the game is finished.

I sometimes also say gg if there is checkmate in few moves.

Oh ok. But they aren't really insulting you, they just believe that the game is basically over. Sometimes you may want to go on, but even then, how is it an insult?
