If you play on the website, you can go to Home -> settings -> themes and customize your chess board, pieces, and sounds - the sounds of movement of pieces, captures and checkmate. There are a whole bunch of them available e.g. marble, newspaper, nature, space, metal, beat, and Lolz. It is quite similar in the android app. I don't know about IOS though.

I believe if you want the sound to be loud and clear, marble might be a good choice.
In online games with longer time controls (e.g. rapid and classical) I sometimes don't realize it's my move (for example, if my opponent is taking several minutes to move and/or I get distracted by something). Is there a way to have the app make a beep when it's my turn?
