p.s. one little thing I'm still missing is a button allowing me to access my own forums directly - i.e., those forums, or that content, that I have created myself. This was simple in v2...
That is included in the My Topics link currently. Your profile also has the forums listed in activity but isn't quite as easy to just get to your created ones.
Yes - after making this comments I did notice that I could access my forums from my profile...
It may still be better, though, to add "the topics I started" to the forum categories like in v2...
More ways to do something translates into easier and more flexible usage.

Version 3 kinda sucks [not entirely]aesthetically from an aristic point of view and does not allow much room for self expression. I will show you what I mean with a visual This is what v3 looks like when they see my profile ... The TOP is V2 The bottom is v3... I have a white screen that wont go away!! Hate it. I would like the option to use a clear screen. However I realize that with some practice it is actually easier to navigate to some areas of the chess site. Not all. 
Did anyone mention v3 has live chess960?

Not really sure. In Version 2... I once had a tactical score of 2204 . But in version 3 is says my highesst tactical score was 2110. Go figure. My highest was 2204 though.
okayyyyy... eventually got an opponent for chess960.
Made my first move.
The opponent never had a chance to make a move. It counted down from whatever... and said the game will abort in (seconds countdown). The first move usually takes the most time in 960 cos u have to think about the set up and check out options.
More countdown time required please!!

I don't like the trophy's on v3. Kinda generic looking. The Chuck Noris one was my favorite on v2 . However I do like the bag of chips trophy on v3.
