great questions!
- i'm not sure what features you are talking about, but yes, this site shares similarities with other sites. it has forums, you can play chess, etc. but it is the first chess social network, blogging platform, and the first place you can easily embed diagrams/etc into your own writings! we will continue to add more and more features - some of them will be new, others will not. but those that are NOT new we hope will be at least better :)
- tournaments are coming.
- finally, no, we will not charge a subscription to play. we will be making money through premium content and lessons. we've mentioned this in other forum posts as well.
feel free to message me if you would like to talk more deeply about it!
I have to wonder just where the site is, or will be, going. As a member of several other, well established, sites I detect some degree of similarity with their features - is this just coincidence - or a simple case of great minds thinking alike?
When will we be able to play meaningful games, rather than seemingly stumbling across 'blitz' seekers. Are there any plans to set up proper Tournaments and so on?
And, most fundamental, how will it all be funded? Are we going to be lulled into a sense of false security and get lots of games going and so on and then suddenly be presented with some form of subscription demand? Basically, I think I would be much happier if I had a clearer idea of just where the site is going. The Chess.com identity has been around for years and yet this seems to be a 'new' idea - is it genuinely new or or just an alternative spin?
