Adding customizability seems like a good idea
make our Home pages more customizable plz

Customising the homepage is like being given a Rubiks Cube where only two sides turn? technically you can fiddle with it but good luck getting it how you want.

At the Spades site, very few made their own (not everyone knows HTML or Java or wants to bother even if they did)... they were usually borrowed. It was an ongoing topic of interest. I embedded Amazon's music player on mine, and the Spades lobby/ chat room.

There isn't actually a lobby here, of course, except for Notes in clubs (I'm a member of only the Beta Club).

To be fair, I barely look at the homepage, I just go straight to the sidebar for puzzles, play, forums, and messages ect But still, having the option to customize more to your own taste would be great for those who use it? or at least make it feel a bit more personal instead of a one size fits all dashboard.

You have good ideas.
I barely use the home page. I tend to play on a tablet or phone.
Biggest current gripe I have with the app is clicking through the pages just to get to the vote chess matches I'm playing (less of an issue on the desktop site) so I can see how customisation could help.
...if it doesn't break anything that of course.
And that's the thing isn't it? We don't really want things broken. If it's done without forethought.

I don't really like the sidebar thing, though, yes, it works. Too many selections, 90% of which I never use. And I don't much like the way it works... hover over an icon, a menu appears. I mess up half the time and it disappears before I choose... annoying. The home page, for navigation, is a better idea, for me at least. This is mine, currently:

I'd like to add about 4 more items for "Quick Links". That you can't choose most items now, pages/features, is mostly what I'm wanting to see changed. My bigger idea, no doubt, is never going to happen

The irony is that I've been looking at the Lichess beta Zen mode and I think it's really lovely on a mobile device. Just straight to the point.
About the only gripe I have with it at present is I don't know how to make premoves in daily chess there yet.

I went for months not using my home page but i like it a lot now. Less to choose from/ less to ignore, also easier, no hit and miss hovering to get a secondary menu.
I get what you’re saying, but for me its all muscle memory at this point, like I’m clicking around on autopilot, same way I play chess really
The Home page is a great feature, chiefly, but not only, because it makes the site much easier to navigate. And it is customizable to some extent but not as much as it could be and some of us would like it to be.
First of all, it only allows a few of the possible options for Quick Links, and many of those are not even for the most popular features or pages. You can have a link to ChessTV or 4-player Chess or Vote Chess, for example, but not to Friends or Clubs or Insights.
Of the current choices, I only use four enough to make me want links to them on my Home page. but there are others I'd like to have links to. Why not allow users to have links to any chess.com features or pages they please???
Those not available are:
Messages, Awards, Profile, Membership, Play Coach, Leaderboard, Game History, Daily Puzzle, Custom Puzzles, Courses, Openings, Lesson Library, Classroom, Insights, Endgames, Practice, Aimchess Training, Events, Streamers, Playing Now, Chess Today, News, Articles, Top Players, Chess Rankings, Friends, Clubs, Chat, Library, Explorer, Solo Chess, Vision, Vote Chess, Mobile Apps, ChessKid, Videos, Games DataBase, Chess Terms, Rules, Tools, Shop, Gift, Merch and Computer Championship.
Secondly, why not allow users to add HTML to their Home page so that, for example, they could embed a video player or music player or a note pad, etc., or just links to other web sites... anything they please.
I used to run a Spades League, powered by MyLeague.com (totally free but, just like chess.com, there are more features if you subscribe). They have a standard platform interface, as chess.com does, also a Home page for each user, customizable using HTML (even JavaScript if you wanted). It looked like anything you wanted it to look like and functioned however you wanted it to function.
My page there looked like this:
