Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone experience the same problem as I do. I have a Macbook pro and when I play on chess.com it starts heating quite much and the battery usage is huge, regardless of what browser I use. I have auto analysis switched of in settings. Looks like our CPUs are in use doing some calculations regardless of what we have in settings?

Well you say you are from North Korea. What did you expect?

How does that relate to the issue?

Cyber warfare and or ads from the Supreme leader heat up MacBooks.

You think it is a joke?

I don't really know what the problem is, as I am not an expert. You can try clearing your cache in browsing history because the browser might be holding too much memory.

Your Macbook overheats because mr. Tim Cook has decided for you that you are hungry, and it's time to eat some fries.

You should take your mac and cheese out of the microwave before playing then...

I tried different browsers. The fact is that chess.com keeps running analysis while you play and it drains the battery fast. I believe that table PC users won't notice this however, but on the laptops it is annoying.

How do you know that?

same here. Specially when analyzing games. Fan starts roaring.

Sounds to me your cooling fan doesn't do its job.

Your computer needs to have the lint and dust is one your main board and the air vent holes Are plugged.

What a long collection of unhelpful answers. My macbook does the same and only at Chess.com - It's not impressive

The only place I've noticed issues is when local analysis is running, which is expected with the ending running in the browser.  I can get some pretty good fan speeds going.

Within the last few months, I have experienced the same issue on my Windows 10 Home serviced laptop. My fan comes on almost right away, and there is a lot of heat. I don't remember having this issue six months ago or so. I will have to find another venue if it doesn't stop.

I would try (one at a time): Using different browsers (chrome, firefox, no internet explorer); clearing the cache ; turn off hardware acceleration in the browser ; turn off animation in the chess.com settings ; maybe there are additional suggestions on the chess.com help page

If that didn't work I would watch the process cpu usage as I entered the site after clearing the cache and slowly clicked around to see what triggers the cpu to spike. Sending that info to chess.com support might help them to find a solution. Good luck.

The forums page also has a delay for me before loading and I am using firefox on Linux.

From what chess.com says, game review is done on the server while analysis is done on the computer. I wonder if changing the analysis engine would have an effect on cpu usage. It is also summer now so depending on your environment the computer will get hotter more easily.
