Why is it that I am openly talking to some members online and yet they don't show as online in the new chat bar??

Do they somehow have to log in??

EternalChess

I love it how basic members are complaining..

shut up dude, you dont have a say in this, you go to this site for free.. and your complaining?! lmfao..

And yes, i love this feature, but like Shachgeek says, you cannot drag the meebo window where you want it.. it always blocks my "submit move" button and i have to minimize it, very annoying

buster47

Does it serve cool drinks?

Who are you telling to shut up?  You sure spend a lot of time telling folks to shut up.  Why?

trigs

i really don't understand how people can be complaining about this. i personally will probably not use it very often, but it's really not a big deal to have the bar across the bottom of the screen.

many people complain about making chess.com better, and then when the staff adds new features people complain about not wanting them. seriously, just ignore the bar if you aren't interested and be happy that chess.com is constantly working at improving the site.

Why can some people not see the bar at the bottom of the page yet??

I couldnt have said it better..

You have a valid point..people are always asking for more features and complaining that there isnt enough, but when something does come out, they just complain..

In the end why make features.. if all ppl do is complain?

They have searched for the bar and I cannot even see them online on this chat thing

KillaBeez

I think it's pretty cool.  Just my two cents.

blackfirestorm

Maybe ... I will talk to him

Sceadungen

I have no friends, well none that are speaking to me

I can't believe this was implemented even after SO many objections! Will you consider taking this off if enough people complain about it? (after we "check it out" as you say)

karolko

For those who do not like this feature. Use Firefox, adblock and set the filter to *cim.meebo.com/* and you get rid of it everywhere.

it can

What does "Updates" mean?

HATE it, LOATHE it. Erik and team what are you thinking? With so many unimplemented good suggestions you bring us this bomb; shame. I will not again pay for a subscription here with an annoyance that is of no use!

Can't wait for some of those obnoxious meebo ads to start jumping up and singing at me.

Well, it HAS been a while since anyone has sung a song for me but really!

Features that degrade the site and make it less fun impact everyone, paid and those who have not paid/yet.

On a related note I've got say I'm growing tired of paid members telling unpaid members to "shut up."

Suggestions to improve the site benefit everyone. It shouldn't matter the source. Each member brings something to this site, be it money, ad revenue, other players/referrals and etc.

This is supposed to be a friendly site.

But what if (just for sake of conversation) elitist paid members drive off all the unpaid members, how many members would be left? Think about the impact on ad revenue and membership fees which must then be raised to make up the difference. Basic math.

how's this for math: 9 people like it for the 1 that doesn't.

ok, so those aren't scientific numbers, but that's about what i have observed so far.

also, you have 3 easy ways to remove it - subscribe, use a script blocker, or just reduce it to your homepage.

i'm surprised you're so worked up over something so minor and easy to fix.

then hide it. seriously, it would take less effort to get rid of it than it did for you to complain about it. :)

val08

I agree. I don't know where you are pulling your numbers from, Erik. Besides, if we didn't complain, you would get the misconception that people are actually enjoying this or that they don't mind.
