How much did you spend on your last chess set purchase?
a) $0 (only play online) b) $1 - $20 (travel set for the road) c) $21 - $50 (the "creatively-shaped" set with bishops looking like pawns to confuse opponent for home board advantage) d) $51 - $100 (chess is going from hobby to lifestyle) e) $101 - $300 (not only do io play chess, i make a lot of money) f) $301+ (the set on the coffee table which NO ONE can touch)

How many days until Chess.com reaches 50,000 members?
It wouldn't surprise me if this happened quite soon.
We have had favourite opening as white, but how about favourite counter to 1.e4? 1...e5, 1...d5, 1...c5, 1...g6 etc...

do you prefer to play opponents with a higher rating than yourself, lower rating, about the same, or no difference.
How about how many would like to see online tournaments say maybe two or three times a year? Speaking of that our online group is having a tournament this coming Sunday. Invite your friends and register at chess_team.

"If for some reason you had to give up chess, how would you react?"
(a) I could give this game up cold turkey if I wanted
(b) I'd make a smooth transition within two weeks
(c) it would be tough but within a month or so I'd get over it
(d) I'd need some type of support group to deal with my withdrawal and depression.

I would have a hard time answering because people mean different things when they say "openings" and "familiar with". A slight mprovement might be, "How many opening systems do you know well enough to play them with confidence?"
