that is an interesting idea! where do you want to be notified?
Notification of friends entering site

I was thinking of the same sort of notification that we currently get for new messages/comments etc - a box in the top right hand corner below the menu bar.
Oginschile - lol!!!

I think in live chess this would be a very cool option. For me personally when I'm on the site I'm cycling through the different pages so i see them on the games page under the friends section. But in live chess it would be cool to have a notification down in the corner or something that tells me a friend of mine is logged on.

we just launched this a few days ago :) doing it for the main site might be harder...
Would it be possible to be able to have a setting in each member's preferences to notify them when someone on their friend list comes online at Chess.com? (set to off by default?)
It just occured to me that this might be a useful feature. I know that it is easy to see which of your friends are currently online, but unless you actually choose to look, then you might not notice a friend is online at the same time as you are.
It might be nice to be able to apply this to people you track as well.
