Great idea!! it would b such a great event on the site.. I can imagine the members of chess.com watching the games of the top players in the site and posting discussions abt the moves and making suggestions and expectations.. loved the idea! hope it will b considered by the staff..

Does anyone else think that a Chess.com world championship would be a good idea? Rather than merely being the temporarily top rated player, the Champion would actually have a title to defend and their supremacy would be undisputed for as long as they held it. For example, I notice that Yelena Dembo has been knocked off top spot, although she has lost no games- can this be right?
Here's how a championship could work:
The 8 top rated players as of January 1st earn the right to compete in the Championship, played in a knockout format. The 2 finalists then play 4 games (simultaneously for time's sake) to decide a winner. If the result is a draw, then sudden death could be played. This could surely decide a winner in a couple of months.
