@Nawari_Bogor

Apologies for this happening to you. We encountered an issue the last day in relation to a server reboot that was scheduled and announced. However, If you write in to support@chess.com or https://www.chess.com/help you can raise a ticket and request a rating refund for the game this happened with. Apologies for any inconvenience but we will be more than happy to get you sorted!

Regards

Hi Erik! What's happening with this player called Jonbchess1? He is on vacation mode for so many months!... Is it allowed! Is it "legal"?... I have sent so many emails to chesscom support group and I have not received any answer yet! Is there a support group over there?

Yes premium members get vacation.

Oluseun_Ola

It's alright. That's a welcome development.

No! I don't like this change!

because beta users are more pro-chess.com, thats why they volunteered

unfortunately, that means beta testers aren't representative of the whole population

also, leagues were fine in beta i presume but the whole population has more bad things in it

and also half the people want something and the other half want the exact opposite usually...

Play has been the primary interface being used for over a year for all member. That's why @erik said 99% of members were already using it.

 not really?

i switched like way after it was created

also i am talking about a more general problem which lets things like a eval bar that removed features(numeric eval on the bar) and made a questionable aesthetic choice(making the bar thinner) for a bit(now the number is back in a way that's equalish to before) got through beta without scrutiny

to simplify, this problem makes beta a bit unuseful as it is proven that objectively bad updates(like the eval bar) can go through beta which violates the point of beta, which is to ask for advice regarding potential future updates

Ilampozhil25

i suggest that random people get the beta updates for a better way to gauge how good the updates are(and it gradually gets rolled out to more and more people)

I know that the thin eval bar and missing numerical evaluations were reported in the beta club. There are a lot of things reported through the whole process and many bugs are  fixed before things go live and some more esthetic suggestions also can influence changes before release. And while I agree that the visual numerical evaluations in the bar are useful, and I like them, their absense may have been objectively worse for some people, but it's still subjective .

There are also times when more minor changes may not spend long in beta and may reach production before enough feedback is received to elicit change or if the change doesn't break functionality it might be released pending updates.

All beta members don't always agree on changes either, but they just provide feedback but that doesn't mean a change won't go ahead.

That absolutely already happens. The site realeases updates to a subset of random members after being vetted in the beta and increases that depending on bug reports and feedback.

Vincidroid

Been a long time I have seen Erik on the Forums. Thanks for the humble post. Honestly, I never had any issues regarding Live vs Play.

i see now why some people post about the new updates before they are fully released, thanks

What is live?

"Live" is the old server for live chess. "Play" is the new server with totally rewritten code.

They were run in parallel for more than a year.

"Live" is being retired.

good morning

nothing to really complain about today I've said it all, but the day is early and I just got here. Laughing. So let's begin. Good luck to all.

There's no Spectators list in "Play" actually. So, if you play a game and want to see, who's watching it, it's not possible

MikeChesser

Also "Play" doesn't tell you in chat when your opponent leaves the game chat. That kind of annoys me when I start roasting my opponent after a lucky win laughing in his face only to realize that he's already in another game (not)

good afternoon

to whom it may concern, the creators of navigation confusion system is come out with the same talking point the code is too old for live chess. I have suggested to swap out cartoon chess for life chess and continue on, they said the they are going to polish up the new confusion navigation system, so it will work better, I submit to the chess players of this site, you can polish a piece of poop all day, at the end of the day it's still a shiny piece of Poop! When you take a generic layover that is good for social sites, and slap it over a once great chess site, you do it no justice. Thank you I told you I'd find something to complain about.

This is a longshot but I'm curious... in the past couple days my friend and I have been unable to play against each other. This was never a problem until literally yesterday, which is the first time we played in a couple weeks. Could this switch be a possible reason or is it nothing to do with it?

Should not matter.

That's what I thought, was just curious since I dunno what else the cause is. Thanks.
