If you know your friend is on at the same time, I believe you can issue a challenge (there used to be a list of everyone who was on at that moment, and you could click on their name to challenge them, but that's been taken out for some reason).

no ..its still the same as online .their a little difference bitween online and live .live is fast .can we jsut play live with our frnds ? tell me how ?
im having the same trouble playing friends in live chess any help would be good . maybe its not possible in live chess?
If they are your friends through chess.com and are signed into the live chess interface(that is important) you can click on the friends tab at the bottom right corner of the screen. From there you can invite them to a game.
ahhh the penny drops, thank you jwh315 the signed in part is what id been missing.
I am sure it can be done, but i can't figure out how to play live chess against a friend of my on chess.com. can somone help me out?
