Please stop complaining about Chess.com

I've noticed a couple people dissing or complaining about Chess.com recently, so I decided I'd post this.

Guys, plain and simple: if you don't like this site, please, don't use it. We're all here, we all love chess. It's an awesome game, right? So if you want to play it, that's awesome!

But if you're just here to complain about how "everyone here is low-rated" or "there's no one playing Blitz" or whatever, and you're not doing your best to fix or try and find out the root of the problem, then it's best for everyone if you go somewhere else.

Causing drama or arguments isn't something we want to do, we wanna play chess! We want to help each other improve, have fun, laugh, grow, etc. but it's hard to do that when there are bad apples spoiling the rest of the barrel. (Tech support stuff, reporting problems, etc. is totally cool! But constantly complaining or insulting fellow chess players? Uh uh, not cool.)

So please keep everything fun and clean and don't constantly complain about how stuff's not going your way here. I'm sure people would love to help you if they can, or even play you - but insulting, whining, and being generally rude isn't the way to go.

Thanks guys!

Thank you! :3 Someone had to post something about this, because it was starting to get just a bit out of hand...

you mean, besides politics? what more could you want?

I agree! This is not a site for complainers and whiners!

I agree that chess.com is an amazing website and the best place to play chess, have fun, and learn to improve your game, on top of being able to hang out with friends and socialize. People just need something to complain about.

Yeah, that's definitely why. Especially after they lose or made a particularly bad blunder in some game. They decide to go off and rant about stuff instead of asking, "How can I fix this?" which would really help them in the long run. Thank you! grin.png

since politics is banned and all people probably figure they need something else to talk about, so i guess they go for complaining?

Unfortunately these days any internet forum is a place where a lot of people vent their anger because they.......

Fail to learn the rules, or

Fail to search the internet for a solution to their problem, so do not understand tht the fault is theirs, or

Have been brought up to believe that anything that does not go their way must be the fault of someone else.

The sound of toys hitting the pavement is a very common one unfortunately and is a sad indictment of the level of intellect in the population at large.

I have been here 8 years and I like it. My only complaint is some nameless posters.

I like how this whole thread is a complaint about complainers. This is what keeps me coming back to the chess.com forums: endless mindless entertainment + enough irony to cure all the anemics in the world!

When they have multiple accounts at the same time they are nameless.

Hold up, there's a bit of a difference there.

Complaints in general aren't bad. It's just pointless complaining. No one in here is whining about how people complain all the time - we're just agreeing that people should stop complaining and that it's pointless.

For instance, complaining that part of the site is down, for example, is fine so long as you're letting a staff member know. But complaining that "everyone on this site sucks"? Yeah, that's whining. No one here is doing such things. happy.png

You are posting in this thread. I am happy it is aimed at your intellect

I also love how easily offended, sensitive, and defensive people here are to the most minute of issues, comments, jokes, and trolls. Ah, the Internet. God bless ya.

where as my username is my real name.

And I have a real life avatar where you only have some goofy cartoon avatar. Also my real name is on my homepage if you would have bothered to look.
