While I understand the benifits of becoming a premium member, there are a few things that arn't quite clear.

1.Who does the money go to?

2.Is chess.com a private company, with people such as Eric paid employies?

3.Was chess.com created as a buissness or just a way to have fun?

I appologize if i have offended anyone, that was not my intention, i would just like to bring these points forward for discution

I also appologize for any spelling errors

1. the money goes to erik.

2. erik is the boss, the rest are paid or paying:P employees.

3. both, ask erik to confirm.

I have to say that these topics make me feel uncomfortable.

The real question for me is do I feel that my contribution is worthwhile, to that I answer yes!

Enough said perchance?

1. money goes into our bank account from which we pay employees.

2. yes, though we are the owners AND employees at the same time. it's not some big company - it's just us :)

3. YES :) (both)

torqamada:

there are two ways of looking at how to encourage memberships: one is to be more restrictive, the other is to add more and more cool stuff that requires a membership (like the Game Explorer).

the site is fiscally secure :) don't worry.

the biggest question for us is how to get paying members at other sites (those you mentioned) to migrate here where they can pay the same ant get 3x the features.

any ideas? :)
