It all depends on if the user is a "Trusted User". All articles written by a "Trusted User" will be 'featured'. Once another trusted user writes an article or blog then that new content becomes the featured content. Usually "trusted user" titles are given to titled players, book authors, and other important chess figures on the site.

Thanks for the reply.
But not all "featured articles" are by "Trusted Users." Additionally, some "featured articles" remain there for days, while others for hours. I'm trying to understand if there's a method to the madness.
If "Trusted Users" are usually from the aforementioned categories, then, by extension, they aren't always from those categories. How would someone outside those categories elevate himseld to that status?
And hey I'm an "important chess figure", just ask my 2.5 year old daughter!!
Or my loving wife....

Other members become "Trusted Users" by continually producing good material for the site over a long period of time and staff members are usually trusted users so that their material can be featured for important site updates and such.

How can one tell if someone is a "Trusted User." Is there some designation on their homepage?
Bat(d)girl its like this, only male contributers can EVER become "Trusted Users". Its like the Sculls Society. And currently we are in a meeting so please don't disturb...

I'm not interested in the least in becoming a "Trusted User. " I'm interested in understanding the process.
Is there a "Trusted Dentist" on this site? Don't worry batgirl...there's help on the way lol
There are trusted drs here, but also less trusted dentists, gynea's and proctologists....

No, unfortunately there is no way to see who is a trusted user. Only administrators have special powers like this.

On the pages that show all the article and all the blog entries, there is always one article or blog entry that is "featured." I'm curious as to how and why an entry is selected. Thanks.
