Pardon Our Blunders Show Review: Nov. 24, 2010

Welcome to the weekly review of Pardon Our Blunders. Every week our Hosts cover varied topics—all chess-related. As regular viewers know, their coverage normally leads to some very interesting and entertaining banter. Cool  And now for the Wrap-Up:

Ending the show, Danny and David played a 5-minute Live Game, but unlike last week, Danny “guaranteed victory” earlier in the show. Let  me set the stage for you a little bit:  Danny wasn't feeling well. He had a bit of a cold and  a bad sore throat, and was sucking down water all during the show from a huge one gallon jug. About halfway through the game, Danny starts squirming in his seat, doing the beginning stages of the PP dance, but he fought through the feeling and finished the game, which was played with a “King’s Gambit” theme, and after 21 moves, the result was clear… (Game analyzed by Fritz 12)

But before the game started, Danny decides to put up a picture of Alexander Grischuk, side by side with David's camera feed, showing how close the resemblence is to each other. Here, see for yourself: LaughingLaughing

In case you can't tell the difference, our own David Pruess is on the left. CoolFirst a man crush on Aronian, now, Alexander Grischuk's long lost brother??  You make the call!  Smile

Also, at the end of the show, they opened up to audience questions about anything chess-related they wanted to ask. The topic came up of who would win the Candidate matches that are going to take place in May of 2011 and face Anand for the World Championship in 2012. Kramnik? Aronian?? Topalov??? Or even Magnus' replacement Alexander Grischuk?

David picked Grischuk while Danny chose Kramnik, as this might be Kramnik's last shot at Anand anytime soon, and it would be a great rematch for Kramnik to get some revenge on Anand for taking the title away from him. Who do you think will face Anand and possibly beat him?

And finally, David has a new nickname: Dave-cakes!  This was a rough show for David it seems. But I think David got him back in the Live Chess game they played. Cool

That wraps up another recap of Pardon Our Blunders. Make sure to watch Friday’s show: Chess Improv by Danny Rensch at 10 AM Pacific (GMT – 8).

It’s Chess.com/TV’s reporter, ChessMarkstheSpot, signing off. So, ‘til next time—same Chess Time—same Chess Channel. Cool
