Ridiculous Abort policy

What is wrong with this site? They announce that the server is restarting in 15 minutes and you can't even resume the game when it's aborted. So you could be up a queen, your opponent has 15 minutes and one second, and lets 15 minutes of his time run out so that the game is aborted and he doesn't lose. Ridiculous.

Site reboots are not a frequent affair. Ample warning is given. Most reasonable people will self-adjudicate or finish their games.

Building a site feature to keep track of Live Chess games through a reboot seems unreasonable, at least in my view - as these games are no more than entertainment, with no money or significant prestige on the line.

Yes ... I'd feel a little annoyed to lose out on a win I had worked for, but life is too short to get one's jockeys in a wad over a single game result. However, to each his own, I suppose.

DrawMaster's got it right as usual.  Actually, it's kind of fun to play one minute blitz as the site is shutting down.

Not really. The warning could be 15 minutes before the reboot is scheduled.

Of course 15 minutes isn't enough. If someone is winning and their opponent has 16 minutes, he can just let his time run out and avoid losing. I don't see why this is so hard to understand or why anyone would think 15 minutes is enough.

I sometimes like to play 60 minute games here. I think a warning of at least 2 hours should be given. How hard is that?

you want to know about ridiculous, its when you have blitz rating of 1000 and every 1199 and above player aborts.  Is it racism? Ratingism? Sexism? some ism.
