I was having problems with all browsers including IE8, gumming up for ages, but I finally managed to install sp1 for windows 7 yesterday, and today no trouble at all, so far.Suggest you d/load and use Advanced System Care from IObit software .com

I had a lot of success using this on xp back in the days.

(just google IObit) It might just cure your problem, and it is a free application, that you can buy the better version if you like it.

Also from IObit,  IObit Security 360,also free, for now beta version, works fine, and destroys adware spyware ect.

i'm using xp with sp3 and avg proffesional, the full packet

sudo apt-get install  linux

That's weird. I have no problems with Firefox 4.0 on XP.
