So-and-so has disabled chat

Scenario

A game of chess. Me: "hello!" (not wanting to get into a whole conversation, just bein' friendly. Like I would be if I played you in my local café.) Then all I get is

---miserable123 has disabled chat---

I am sure there are a host of good reasons. BUT they are still a miserable one and I will not offer them a rematch. Because:

  1. They don't want to chat because they are 5 years old under parental supervision (goo goo gaa gaa)
  2. They are rude and can't be bothered to say hi (no comment)
  3. They don't understand enough English to say hi (WTF)
  4. They are paranoid about people being rude to them so they don't dare say a word in case something "happens" (er...)

Do others feel this way or AM I THE ONLY ONE???

A lot of people seem to think that #4 is a sensible and valid behavior, dunno why.
