time per move

Within a persons statistics time per move is indicated.  This is not overly important but my question is this.  How is time per move determined?  2 possible answers is all that I can determine.

1. When you are actually online and deciding upon a move, the clock is running.

2. Regardless if you are online, when it is your move, the clock is always running.

A different question.

What happened to the statistic of a players average move per game?  I liked that statistic, it was kind of interesting.

Thanks for your time.

answer is #2.

avg. move per game was VERY expensive on the database.

The timing system is absurd. The only time that should count is when you log into a game til you make your move. Internationally any other time is simply silly.

echecs06 if you were answering my post you missed the point. Average time can be a useful statistic. Average of what is the query.  From the bits and pieces I have been able to compile I see no meaningful purpose in the current system. If you find the existing statistics useful please elaborate.

The stat gives an indication of how long players keep their opponents waiting while they are at work, sleeping, having a good or bad time elsewhere.

With this information some might decide not to play this player.

Time/Move: 5 days 21 hrs
