Titled players and free diamond membership

i don't think that it's been confirmed that they are doing this, it's just something that came up in chat.

Anyone who thinks masters haven't earned a free membership here at chess.com are patzers, period.  They've earned much more than they get.

confirmed. if you think tiger woods pays to play golf, you're insane. no different here.

i wonder how much the titled players actually use the Diamond membership benefits on this site...

I'm just disappointed that they didn't take what I said as wrote.

Hey, If you want to have a high class chess site, having a substantial number of strong and talented players would seem to be a prerequisite.  The titled players involvement with Chess.com adds more value to the site than the amount of membership fees that were not collected from them. 

This is one of the biggest reasons that I paid for a diamond level membership, and I feel that I receive a LOT of value and enjoyment for my investment.  Other players will perceive the value received from the presence of the titled players differently, but you can measure my satisfaction in dollars and cents.

I don't see you making a big stink that IMs and GMs get free entree in major tournaments.

1) Is this site better because they are here?

2) Does it affect you negatively in any way if they get free membership?

Tiger Woods actually does pay to play golf.  He pays through his services to golf, by increaseing the fold so to speak.  The titled players here are the same, they attract more members and therefore a good marketing investment. 

The excellence deserves recognition and they have earned their dues stuff is just bs.  If they didn't attract people to join the site they wouldn't get free memberships....well not if Erik has any business sense at all.

Lol. That it means that if I won last 2 games on my tourney (instead of a draw and loss) I would get a diamond membership! Big pity...

I think only Erik and other chess.com staff can really say if its a good investement to allow titled players free diamond membership. I imagine that if they decide it isnt they wouldnt do it, or will discontinue it in the future.
