Thanks PHudson :)
Unfair chess.com moderators
If there will be voting thumbs up/down for threads. Crybabys and sockpuppets will start threads to direct people to vote for some other thread. All while watering down the forums with more garbage.
Brilliant.

Advanced forums auto-closes topics if they reach a certain minus threshold.

The irony.
He means people soliciting up-votes for their comments. We'll probably also get "Can you believe how many + votes that guy's comment has?!" threads too.
So basically more Unidans
I said in chat on chess.com/tv that the celtics suck, which is simply an opinion and my comment was removed I believe by adamredsox. Then I said the mod was being abusive and I was muted for 60 minutes. I do not think that is fair at all.. My comment shouldnt be removed in the first place, the mod said I was being mean(adamredsox) but I didnt say anything mean I just spoke my opinion.
It really is a big thing to just mute somebody for 1 hour. Im also a diamond member and it simply is not fair in the first place to use your power in that way..
Adam is a Celtics fan so you should have known better. Now if you talked smacked about the Cavaliers...
That's really mod abuse since everyone is open to their opinion. However, imo the original poster should have been nicer.
@Kenardi,
Note the wording in the rules: "Moderators may delete posts... and include an explanation." Doesn't say they must explain. They may do so if they choose.
I started visiting chess dot com as a way to stay off the political forums, where discussions so often deteriorate into playground-level spite and stupidity. Funny old world....
and - what kind of character would like to work as a moderator? lolol if you have the answere - you would know that it makes no sense to discuss their doings. - and that is an opinion lol.
Our doings? You're making us seem all dark and mystical o_0
you should have some statements to back up your opinions. since you mentioned it without any , the mod noticed that it would just bring even more debates and flames and instantly removed it. (maybe ?)
what is worng with debate?
This is pay/free site, a company, sure we have no rights here... but I WILL NOT pay someone to censor me.
This is AMERICA!
This is an INTERNANATIONAL SITE

"moderators may delete posts, or edit to remove offensive material and include an explanation"
They do not have to delete a post, they do not have to explain why.
However, if they deside to implement the first it is just a common courtesy to follow up with the second. It is just rude not to explain why... especial when asked, Why?

I agree. (I'm glad we have moved the discussion from "censorship" to "common courtesy."
)
I was mod/admin for a forum long ago. I never could decide whether to edit out lapses of common courtesy by posters. The mods here are generous -- they accept lots more rudeness than I ever would have done.

I agree as well... being a moderator is not an easy job.
I am just asking why? Still waiting almost 48 hours now for that. I think as a customer I should at least get that.
in my case i feel it was an abuse of power... i have read the rules and gave no reason to be deleted. if i am missing something, waiting for a staff memeber to point it out to me.

I don't know your situation, but I'd generally agree with that. The exception I'd make would be for people who are just here to push the mods' limits as far as they can, then complain when they are stopped. Those people are trolls, and they should be banned.
My opinion, of course.

I can see and understand how repeat offense after being warned could result in deletion or exile. That i would say, is one of the most difficult parts of being a moderator. Dealing with that... i can see how that might wear on you.
And agree... deletion or exile may be required. but only as a last resort.
or when the offense requires: illegal or pornographic as examples.
Hopefully they dont remove your opinion for no reason like they did to me :)
You were baiting Celtics fans. I'd have removed your opinion myself. No forum needs a flame war involving Boston sports fans, especially one devoted to chess!
