How long should I wait though? I WAS aborting games when they didn't move after an hour... Then I found out if I just waited a few days someone would show up and make a move.
I get the feeling that some of them aren't going to come back though.
I would think that the server should start tracking time from the moment the game is set up, rather than the first move. So if your opponent never makes a first move, then they'd time out in 3 days, or whatever your time control is.

No they aren't. They are just sitting there. I can see some right now in HelfstM's online games. One is nine days old. I got some that are just two days old but they still say 3-days left to play on White's clock.
as it's written..move per (..) days..for instance, if u chose a period of 3 days it would last 3 days!
when he make a move ..u will have 3 days to make a move otherwise u'll lose the game

How long will chess.com save games where nobody ever moved? I'm starting to collect a some of these.
Maybe the clock should start ticking on the first move.
