I think the lower numbers are active players, while the larger ones are all members total. Is that right?
verrrrry curious

some people don't actively play turn-based chess. some people don't play here at all - they come for forums or quiz or tactics or whatever. some people signup and then disappear. some people eat hamburgers.

Some ppl. such as myself eat neither hamburgers or hot dogs, but merely play chess, and rather badly at that.

Actually, I don't like hamburgers or hotdogs myself, it's just that I was really hungry and would eat anything.
Here's a question for the site moderators. On the top-right of your screen on the home chess.com boasts 300,000 members. In the ranking section of the statistics, I'm 5000 of 50,000 members.
According to the members>country list page, there are 17,000 Canadians. On the View players page, there are only 5000ish (I think).
So, why the discrepency?
