We have been subjected to malignant narcissism in the form of one particular odious world leader. We know what it looks like and what it sounds like. Change that world leader for Kramnik and you know what it is all about. Kramnik is a sick man mentally, and he has been allowed to go unchecked for too long. He needs censure and to be held accountable. Sign this petition: https://c.org/6KYdKWmjJR

The tragedy of Danya's passing should be an alarm. The world of social media seems to have taken away our appreciation for respecting others, as it creates an illusion of invulnerability. The use of the medium to harass and bully others is out of control. To allow someone as clearly unhinged and out of touch with reality, consumed by paranoia and the growing realization of his own fading abilities and inevitable path towards irrelevance like Vladimir Kramnik to completely destroy a young man's desire to live is unforgivable and despicable. We know what Kramnik is. We know what he did. He will further sully Danya's reputation and hurt his family to deflect from his outrageous and vile behaviour ... but we ALL know. May it haunt him to his grave

Other than being an internet troll that others should have just ignored nothing. None of his noise past or present would never matter if people just ignored him and not engage him.

The whole thing is crazy. We will never know the cause of death due to his families privacy. I do think some action in the way of a fine should be done to Kramnik. I think 300k and a suspension from attending or participating in Fide events for 5 years.

yeah that's fair enough

Kramnik can say whatever he wants. What he did might have not been right but it did not lead to the conclusion of Daniel.

Even though Kramnik is able to say whatever he wants, that doesn’t mean his words couldn’t have possibly contributed to Naroditsky’s death. Odds are, if it was suicide, what Kramnik said was likely what drove him to do what he did.

Would this even be possible? If the cause of death isn’t disclosed, it can’t be proven that Kramnik’s actions led to Naroditsky’s death.

ok please don't turn this into an argument I don't want the forum to be locked.

But Kramnik can't most likely be legally charged for "cyber bullying", even if it did contribute to Daniel's death

I was just listening to the theme song for Felix the Cat, a kid's cartoon. If you swap out Kramnik for Felix and a certain rodent that rhymes with cat, the song perfectly sums up the discussion.

The Krammik drama started 2 years ago when Krammik first went after Niemann. Niemann quickly defused the situation by publicly and privately asking to play games in person.

Krammik then moved on to Hikaru, who told him to F off.

Krammik then went onto Danya, who initially tried to defend himself by setting up a bunch of cameras, not realizing Krammik uses all evidence as ammunition, which he can get a lot of from content creators. Over the past year and a half, Krammik never stopped. He got people to setup eye tracking software to monitor historical videos of Danya's streams, spending weeks obsessing over them.

This all took a huge toll on Danya, which he spoke about publicly.

We don't know what happened in the slightest, nor should we.

It's hard to say how directly this situation contributed to his mental health, because we don't know this person personally. It's not our place. It is up to his family and friends to decide how to frame him as a person going forward.
