What's up with chess.com?

If you have firefox, I think it should be much harder for this to happen if you have noscript. Or if you have noscript and it's blocking the ad people, it would seem to suggest you have malware on your machines.
Someone mentioned system restore. I've heard some things hide out in the restore files, so they can reappear once you've removed them. Unlikely in any given case, but possible i suppose.
I'm almost certain you can delete spybot search and destroy after you have installed it. (You must be thinking of norton! ) Although, I found it pretty near useless at detecting and removing malware. I found adaware was better, and webroot spysweeper used to be best, but i think you have to pay for that now, and it's had plenty of time, since I last used it, to become bloated with only-good-for-marketing "features".

I didn't download the sypbot thing. I absolutly hate firefox but i have stuff to stop ads and stuff.
IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT WAS A SEARCH ON A WEBSITE FOR TRUCKING COMPANYS. PLEASE MAKE IT STOP ITS GETTING WORSE!

If you hate firefox, fair enough, just suggesting if you use it, to try noscript. If your experience was with firefox2 though i can say 3 is much better. Nothing wrong with Ie7 though, and i doubt this is a browser problem.
Seriously, i've had this or similar happen to me before, a few years ago mind you, when I typed in an address or followed a link it would take me somewhere else maybe 50% of the time and was very annoying because i was linking all over the place trying to find information on stuff, and my internet was sloowww thanks to a house full people downloading crap on mediocre internet. I seriously doubt it is the fault of the website. Try adaware and report back.

erik,
i forgot how to take screen shots. Can you refresh my memory?
sstteevveenn,
I did try firefox 3, no good. I'm gonna do somestuff with my computer and tell you if i find anything interesting. I dought it's my computers its happening to other people too.

johndeere: Strike the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard, launch Paint should be under accessories in the Window's start menu, go to the menu Edit>Paste, and save as a jpg.
edit: ssttee beat me to it.

lol, I just opened the site in ie7 so i can do it without logging in, and because it sounds like if there's something wrong it should just happen by itself from what i've read, and i have to say that using firefox I do miss the hilarity of some of the best ads the web has to offer.
Priceless.
They've sure come a long way in the last 10 years!
[Edit] hahaha and i just found this classic...
I love how they have highlighted 'yes'!

omg... i always get them things popping up... is there any chance that if u click on them they could have a virus?

I have an advice:
Just buy a premium membership, it'll remove all the adds and probably most of the issues.
And anecdotically it'll encourage Erik and his staff in their good job.
Also please take into consideration the fact that if your machine was hacked by some addware software it has probably nothing to do with chess.com (I mean it probably also arrives to you on other websites)
I am an IT pro and a simple advice I could give you is: really be carfull on not installing too many stuff on your computer, especially when the provider is not a well established company (or a well controlled open source community).
