Why chesscom is better than lichess

I'd say Lichess is better for analysing games and learning. Lichess is completely free and it's community studies help me better than chess.com's lessons. And I figured out how to analyse my games properly in Lichess faster than on chess.com, also I think chess.com's AI coach is really unhelpful and really just there to help sell premium. Lichess's lessons and practice are more like chess.com puzzles than the chess.com features of the same names, and instead of being simple brainless back-rank checkmates like every chess.com puzzle I've ever played, they actually require thinking.

That was my point

Ultimately lichess is better, cause there you dont have to pay money to analyze your games after you get defeated yet again bu stockfish

I assume he’s joking, glad I’m not the only one who couldn’t tell whether this was sarcasm

1. Game analysis
Both lichess and chesscom have their own engine for game analysing.
Yes, at lichess you don't have to pay for that. But chesscom has an AI mentor which will admire your moves which will make you feel more confident! In the end it is worth all the money.
2. Site optimization
Yes, chesscom is not that smooth. In fact sometimes it is even difficult to move a piece. But look at those colours and icons, animations and entertaining ads around! And what lichess has? None of that! Boring white colours.
3. Political views
Chesscom has an active and moral political side. It's hiding flags of world agressors. By that they are showing that they are totally against violence. Unfortunately, they are not updating often enough, that's why they haven't hide Israel's flag yet.
And what does lichess do? Nothing, they just play chess like it is not related to politics.
4. Design
Chesscome pushes your brain to work. If you really want to find some feature, then you should try hard. There is no place for lazybrain.
On lichess it is just way too simple.

1. Neither site has "their own engine" for analysis. All these engines are free and available in LucasChess(R) where analysis and database management is much better.

2. Lichess design is cold and boring, board styles are amateurish-looking.

Chess.com has no problems with piece motion.

3. You can still show off any flags here. Example: https://www.chess.com/member/dartviktor123x

Lichess is engaged in political scandals too: https://www.reddit.com/r/chess/comments/159w38x/gms_mamedyarov_and_now_durarbayli_leave_lichess/

Chess.com is a lie. When I play chess.com blitz my opponent often makes moves in .1 seconds. How is that even possible? I noticed that when I'm playing chess.com on Chrome my CPU goes ballistic during the game, especially towards the end. What is that about? How can simply moving pieces around on the board cause my CPU usage to go through the roof? Conclusion: chess.com isn't a real game against a real person.

Try disabling analysis in settings, maybe it could help with the CPU.

CPU usage still could be high when playing against bots since chess.com uses resources of YOUR device to run their bots.

As for the time, they had some bug or bugs, claimed to be resolved, not sure if they have more but you're not the only one who notices issues with time. The most famous bugs happened during Kramnik - Alcantara match when they tried playing on chess.com against each other while sitting in the same room. There were other witnesses and cameras, otherwise no one would have believed Kramnik.

Thank you for reviving a long dead post to tell us this. Seriously, how did you even find it to revive it???

I tried lichess yesterday.

Negative points: You start at 1500. First 7 matches lost. Ok now I'm 5-9 but still it's a bit harsh to beginners at the beginning. On chess com I got my first win after the second match.

Also lichess feels cold, dry and uninviting, and I can't see the flags in a match. I love and know all national flags. Chess com looks more atmospheric and it's more colourful. I love seeing many colours. Also I found some nice people on here like someone called Melissa (we already had 14 matches) and someone who sometimes does coaching with me.

positive: many puzzles, unlimited and free.

I think both are good, but chess.com is the most popular platform, so I go for chess.com. By the way, Lichess is best for free analysis, and it's totally free and open source.

And now there is a new sherif in town

Just discovered this MAIA website and find it stunning: https://www.maiachess.com/
The unmatched functionality—especially the analysis and learning features—beats Chess.com and Lichess hands down. And it’s free.
If it weren’t for the online play (which Lichess also offers for free), where you can compete against around 250 million players, I wouldn’t have subscribed to a Diamond membership.
Any opinions welcome.
