Why do chess sites only do blitz and buttle games?

I am looking at the chess tournament page (it won't let me post a link to it), but all I see is:

2|1 Buttle Arena

3+ 3|0 Check arena

1|0 Buttle Arena

5|0 Blitz Arena

960 10|0 Live 960 Swiss

Why no standard Rapid with 10|2?

There are 15|10 events, 30|0 and 10|0 as longer options. There are also clubs that do Live events and I'm sure some do longer time controls..

Martin Stahl, that may be in the settings but when I go to see live tournaments there aren't any available.

They'll only be available one hour before they are scheduled. That link provided a schedule, so check during those times for longer time control games.

I am sorry, I don't understand what you mean. What you sent was a link to a page which talks about the settings and that there COULD BE a rapid event. I don't see a place to go to in order to check "those times" whatever "those times" means. You mean, those times that rapid events WILL occur?

Please clarify what you mean. Is there a place I can sign up for rapid or no? If so, where?

This is what I see on my end. A bunch of blitz or bullet, and only two 10 minute events. One is called blitz. The 960 also blitz? I thought 10 or longer counted as rapid. 

Buttle? What is a "buttle"?

Blitz and bullet tournaments are the most common, partly because of the length of time taken to complete the entire tournament under normal circumstances.

If I recall, 10 mins here is counted as blitz, regardless of game variant.

For play it doesn't matter, but I would like 10 minute games to go towards my rapid rating since I don't want to play many 5 minute games. That is the only objection I have.

You could being this up as a feedback...though I highly doubt the site will convert 10 min to rapid....

No, but they could have 10|5 events and put those towards rapid. 

10 min chess is blitz under both FIDE and US Chess regulations, so they are unlikely to change it.

As to when they happen:

The longer events run every four hours with staggered initial starts. So there will be 6 events of each, as long as enough people register.

The 15|10 is in round 1 now and there are two sections.
