Why don’t add the Ukrainian flag as membership flair?

Not only is the political world united to condemn the invasion of the Russian army, but everyone in sports, entertainment or alone, urges us to show support and closeness to the Ukrainian people. Chess.com has always shown the origin country’s flag of each player and I think is just a little sign to show that the world of chess is a united and fair community. Why don’t encourage the chess.com dev team that the the possibility to add the Ukrainian flag as membership flair is developed as soon as possible?

My understanding is that adding flairs is not something that is easy to do and it isn't likely to happen.

I think adding an entry with icon to the flair set is a basic programming exercise for newbies.

i think chess.com doesn't want political statements in the forum or games.

Due to inactivity of chess.com with respect to the war in Ukraine I will leave chess.com and recommend all friends to do the same. Just giving statements is not an appropiate reaction of chess.com. It's a shame!

this is a chess website, they don't need to do anything, they can't do anything that would actually help.

You can change your flag in settings.

https://www.chess.com/settings

Scroll down to "country" and select "ukraine" - and boom. Everybody can do this, not just premium members.

i dont think there any benefit to this as i mean its a flag flair and if they make ukrain a flair then what about all the other flags? what will happen when this is all over? do we simply remove ukrain and then go back to living normal days without the drama? i mean its just a normal flag and i urgently believe that using the flag as a token of support is already enough

The political world is united against Russia because the world needs a scape-goat, to blame its problems on. No one says anything when Europe and the US invade and kill millions in other areas of the world for self gain, but as soon as russia moves to protect its self interests, like stopping Ukraine from joining NATO, or not allowing the US to set up Missiles in Ukraine, all of a sudden the world loses its mind.

The double standard is hilarious.

I am Italian, and proudly so, but I changed my flag from Green/White/Red to Blue/Yellow to show my nearness to the Ukrainian people. I have a lot of Russian friends (in real life, not on chess.com) and would never think bad of Russians in general, but this act of aggression is not to be justified in any way.

Listen to what a great Russian Grandmaster, Alexander Grischuk, has to say about this war:

I agree, this isn't something that chess.com needs to change, if cc interferes there could be lot's of drama and problems that aren't necessary. Even if chess.com did change it, I don't see how it would help.

Because then you'd have to add the Russian flag as a membership flair. Oh no, where's my Nauru membership flair? Scam! Those anti nationalistic scum!

Yes that might well have happened many times, as has saying " country X moves to protect its self interests"

How many times has that already been said to justify war and Genocide ?

Do you want to add yet another ?

What is being protected here is Mister Putins ego.

We don't have to continue to find " good reasons" to justify war and Genocide, but maybe we will ?!   sadly

Did you even read what I just wrote?

The west is literally trying to surround Russia. What Putin wants is to stop that. He's not trying to Annex Ukraine. And do you know whats hilarious about all of this? YOU guys are the ones that are discriminating now. You're attacking regular russian people, you're closing down their investments, you're forcing them to back out of company deals, you're literally making the lives of regular Russian people a misery, as your tactics to make everyone turn against Putin

It's completely disgusting. im sure not everyone was for the US governments plan to invade Iraq when they lied about "Weapons of mass destruction" and completely obliterated the country, which later caused ISIS to emerge, a group which has caused massive terrorist concern for the west and killed many people on top of the US's invasion.

I never saw anyone complaining then, I also never see the US people being discriminated against.

Stop pulling a wall over your eyes this is not about stopping war, this is about using Russia as a scapegoat and uniting the western world as much as possible to gain more power.
