Why was computer 'downgraded'?

The Chess.com app for android was upgraded about a week or two ago and before that I used to lose against the computer very badly on level 4 (1000 rating). After the update, I noticed I can easily beat the computer on level 4 and level 5 (1200 rating). It gets hard again on level 6 (1400 rating).
I have been playing more often and I'm sure I am getting better little by little, but I know the computer had to have been downgraded.
Is there any reason for this?
