Your rating doesn't change if an insufficient number of moves is played in the game. Most of the time this occurrs when one side loses on time without making any moves, or after just making 1 or 2 moves, but the reason that there is no rating change is because there weren't enough moves played, not because one side lost on time.

If you're in a game in turn-based chess and you're losing badly, can't you just not move for three days?
I've found that when you win on time, your rating doesn't change at all, I'm not sure about the opponents rating if it goes down or not, but if it doesn't, can't you just not move for three days, and done. Rating is unchanged.
