If a flag isn't universally offensive, like the third reich swastika or general lee - and admittedly most flags are "difficult" to one group or another - then why does it matter?

Ok, at the risk of descending into an Irish writers alternative universe - Swift, Beckett or Flan O'Brien al a Third policeman - Why is this website an issue? And assuming you are using this website as a proxy for the broader relevant world, why do you care what flag people use?
I note you use Ukraine's current flag - I say current because like my own country (Ireland) Ukraine has many historical flags and borders (Crimea being a recent flashpoint).

Well, you can't force people to really show their countries whether you have outdated flags or not. I'm not from Kyrgyzstan, in fact the closest connection I have is a friend from Tajikistan.
Edit: Excellent idea from Kaynight adding the lunatic asylum flag. I would definitely choose that if they did.

Seriously though I agree with the 'what does it matter' statement. Do we judge each other by the flag showing on their profile? I doubt most of us do. Do any of us choose where we're born? Just because we're born in a certain country does it mean we agree with the political leadership, past or present, of that country? Most would answer no.
Yugoslavia used to be a holiday destination, a great place viewed as the East, by the West, and West, by the East. Nobody was killing each other and the necessities in life were cheap or free. I think if I lived there I'd probably be wondering where it all went wrong, despite the corruption that existed there it was preferable to what they have now. And sadly, we all have to suffer corruption at the top wherever we live. And of course, nationalism does nothing to further or improve our lives; we can't eat flags.
Wait,, we can get flags of countries that don't exist?
I want a Gilligan's island flag!
