Hi Martin,
Chessbase? But if not can you let me know if you find such a thing?
Thanks
You could try this
http://www.shredderchess.com/online-chess/online-databases/endgame-database.html
Just don't use it in any of your ongoing games
I could use a database in an attempt to find games with those basic themes but I'm not sure I can come up with a sufficient number of each type for extensive study. I'll take look at the databases I have and see if I can generate enough.
Nalimov tablebases would be useful if I could extract arbitrary positions from them for practice. As far as I can see, there isn't a way to do this.
I haven't found anything yet so I decided to start building my own for now. Working on the elementary mates first, starting with KBBvK and KvKBB. I have a little over 100 unique starting positions, though some of them may be close to others and may need to be weeded out or have the starting position from later in the game.
Anyone know of a good collection of Basic Endgames that have a large number of positions containing the majority of the basic endames?
I've done some searching and found some endgame studies and a download here with 600 endgames. I would like to find some additional options, short of creating them, that would include a large number of each variation for practice.
For example, there would be 50 or more of K + 2B vs K, and 50 or more of K + B + N vs K and the other basic chess endgames. Something to use to get a lot of practice on those types of endgames.
