I think we're playing for the same team in the latest Chess960. I think I spotted you. My starting position this time is fascinating.

Yes, I noticed your name. I suck at 960, though. My moves are pretty random.

I'm starting to enjoy it. These are games 7 and 8 for me. I started at 400. Two wins here and I'm over 1500 and a big timer! happy.png happy.png

I will take the Rook on e3 with my Queen.

For me, personally, it is most reliable.

And let it be what it be. ))

The question is only this one. If you would get six pawns against five pawns of your opponent... Is it enough for the victory? In this concrete position...

Only Chess experts can answer this question.

You never can calculate that !

Everything wins for black. Black can capture 3 times on e3 and then win the pawn ending with his extra pawn c7.

And I think the same way.

But would it be... one extra pawn enough to win in this position ?

I am very confident in my ability to win this endgame; 6 pawns vs 5 pawns here - no worries; even against a GM, I am confident in my ability to convert this for a win happy.png

I don't have to calculate it all! This is why endgame study is important - to know which positions are winning and what you can safely play into happy.png

That ending is just about advancing the King, getting King opposition and finessing zugswang.

You have found one of the few moves that do NOT win for Black in this position.

The king and pawn ending after 1...Bxe3+ is a trivial win, one does not have to know much to win this.
