If you are looking for a book for endgames, look no further than Troitzky's 360 brilliant and instructive endgame studies (https://www.amazon.com/360-Brilliant-Instructive-End-Games/dp/0486219593)... if you are able to finish the book not only will your technique and endgame understanding improve, but so will your calculation. Highly recommend it as it helped me gain hundreds of rating points.

Hi,I want to ask a question
What's the difference between this book and other books such as Fundamental Chess Endings?
I am about 1800 score on chess.com, can you recomand some books to me? From openings to middle game and endigns?
Thank you!

My list for endgame books I'm going to study (in this order)
1) Silman's Complete Endgame Course
2) 100 Endgames You Must Know
3) 100 Endgames You Must Know Workbook
4) 100 Endgame Patterns You Must Know
5) Mastering Endgame Strategy
6) Van Perlo's Endgame Tactics
7) Shereshevsky's Endgame Strategy
8) Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual
I might also study a specific book for rook endgames and pawn endgames. But studying these books I listed, will take many many years.

I think Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual is a little difficult to me ,what do you think? Do you ever read this book before?

Yeah, Dvoretsky's book is propably the most difficult of those books, that's why it's last on the list. I have only studied Silman's Complete Endgame Course and I've almost finished 100 Endgames You Must Know. So long way ahead to the Dvoretsky's book 🙂 I'm hoping that after I've studied all the books above, I will be ready for Dvoretsky's book.

These are some great recommendations everyone and I really appreciate it. Across the various advice I am going for a cross section: A classic by Capablanca, Silman's Endgame Course, Van Perlo's Endgame tactics book and Dvortskey's manual. That should give me plenty to keep me busy. Thanks for the advice.

If you have loads of free time and really want to swim in the ocean of endgames:
2,545 Endgame Domination Studies (Kasparyan).

At a much easier level, this is a really good book:
1,000 Endgame Exercises for Beginners (willemze).
Books that have helped me in the order I wish I'd read them:
1. Shereshevsky's Endgame Strategy
2. Reinfeld on the endgame [descriptive notation, old but really good]
3. Chernev: Capablanca's greatest endings
4. a short, 100-150 page book on basic endings like Averbakh's or Bardens
5. Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual which has a reputation of being too technical but I find his explanations very clear. I like to look up endings there similar to one just played. It's not for study from page 1 on but for understanding how to play better specific types.
6. Giddins: Greatest ever chess endings
7. pretty much any book on endings by Edmar Mednis
8. Van Perlo's Endgame Tactics-- interesting to dip into especially to see typical tactics in endings before I start studying that type.
9. Some specialized books that include endings that arise from IQP games

I am looking to expand my base endgame knowledge. Any suggestions for good studies, games, books, or video series? Strategies welcome. Thanks.
