Endgame Strategy

Hi,

Would like to improve endgame for that is my lowest rating overall. It takes time to study endgame to get a small iota of knowledge. I have look at CBFT endings 1-4 by Mueller. Polgar  vol 10 Learn Endgame,  Roman vol 30 Master Endgame, CBFT Aagard Positional, RM 54 Positional weakness, 20 pawn struture,  7 Think like grandmaster. Kopec. Read Pratical Endgame Lessons by Mednis and Pratical Chess Endings by Euwe was my first study when a kid.  U get the picture, I am learning.

Discover my weakness from CM 9000 by doing evaluation. Just look at CM 11, grandmaster edition and love Josh knowledge. After watching Josh, I have better understanding on what to inquire rather than asking endgame. Lurking, I have heard of Sheriwan, Lenderman, Heisman (spelling) but which to learn first.

What I am asking today is endgame strategy learning material that u found useful. When u have strategy, then the vision to carry endgame. From those videos, have some knowledge to carry but need more puzzle pratise on  subtle nature of dominoe effect for little blunder like an execution order, ....

If u look at CM11, Josh showed an endgame position  In Search of Bobby Fisher movie. That endgame requires endgame strategy. He saw 10 moves ahead and spectators thought he lost the game. Not only 10 moves ahead but which strategy for draw.  Humbly, I did not have his endgame strategy vision when he was 9 years old. He fought for a draw. Would like to develop and appreciate your help to improve my game. tx

I became a decent endgame player with just Chess Master 9000 alone, with the basic concepts shown there and a bit of brute force you can get pretty good in no time. I think using so many sources is a mistake, because they will reapeat the same material over and over, in adition there is only so much you can learn from seeing examples from master games, better is to learn the basics play alot and when you get a chance to play an endgame if you lose find out WHY it's the method I recomend.

Pandolfini's Endgame Course is a cheap, but instructive endgame book that teaches the basics of King and Pawn, Bishop and Pawn, Rook and Pawn, and miscellaneous other endgames. I found it an excellent read. Also, you can go to mychess.com and there will be a link that says "22 Endgame Lessons".

You may want to checkout IM Kopec's Essential Endgame Knowledge DVD - it's pretty good and on his website www.kopecchess.com
