Endgame Technique

Today I played a match, so in the endgame of this match, I used a technique.
The technique goes on like this: When the only piece remaining was the king, the king would move like how would a knight would until a piece was captured by the king. Is this a good technique?

Start by learning the 5 basic checkmates.

Duck

Learn the queen checkmate first, then two rooks, then a rook, then two bishops, then a knight and a bishop.
