Model mate

Hi,

I'm curious how 'model mate' works, what are the rules of play for a 'model mate'? I know it's an aesthetical composition of chess problems. I've been searching on the web for more info about this, but there is only a limited wikipedia page dedicated to this and nothing more.

Does someone care to explain with examples or knows literature about this?

Thanks in advance.

Your mind overcomplicates matters. It is exactly as explained on Wikipedia. Model mate is simply any checkmate position that meets the stated requirements. Wikipedia's examples are problem compositions leading to model mates but only the final position counts to place it in that class.
