Queen v Rook Position

I've been studying (for countless hours) the Friedel videos on Queen vs. Rook. In the initial position below, the only good move for black after white Qf4 is supposed to be Kd7. I've been able to figure out why every other move for black is bad *except* for Kc8. I put it into the engine and heck if I can figure out how white converts it into a win. Any helpful clues for this position?

Any move is bad in the sense that Black is going to lose, so it's only a question of how quickly.

Any moves but Kd7 or Kc8 lose the rook PDQ, but there's not a lot between those two moves.

Easiest thing is to follow the lines suggested by Syzygy here. The DTZ lines may be more of interest than the DTM because Black will resign once you reach KQK.

IMO one of the most pointless endgames you can study. You have a huge material advantage and very likely it was possible to keep one or two pawns and finish this game with R+2P vs R or something like this.

The other point is nobody in the world is able to find the best defensive moves.

actually QvR is a fascinating ending to study & can arise quite easily from RvP:

the youtuber i mentioned (derek grimmell) has an excellent series of videos devoted to this complex.
