What piece of advice made it easier for you to understand how perform the mating pattern?

Look at the pictures under "Delétang's triangle method"

Search YouTube for the bishop and knight checkmate. I recommend GM Akobian from the Saint Louis Chess club. The "W-maneuver" method is way more intuitive than the triangle method. Then you need to practice it many times against an engine or a real player to get it right

Yeah, it was the W-maneuver rather than the triangle method that I learned.

I learned from endgame books.

Play it against a table base.

Oooh - interesting. I've only tried the W-maneuveur. Will see if I can wrap my head around the triangle method.  Thanks for this.
