Accuracy

Should I be suspicious of being beaten by an opponent with an accuracy rating over 90? Or are they just that good?

If you play really badly it’s not hard to get a very high accuracy.

I get in the 90s routinely.

if you look at a typical game played out, (talking daily games here where you can take a min to look) there are a LOT of places where the best move is easy to find for a mid tier player.  MOST exchanges where its just piece for piece, the best move is to recapture the one taking it.  MOST opening moves (assuming again mid tier play) are going to be fine too, matching some book line or otherwise scoring well.  MOST endgames are cut and dried as well, its no brainer to move the pawn towards queening or force their king to the edge for mate etc.  All that to say, 90% sounds high but well over 50% are 'freebies' where you should get the 'best' scoring move or an equal alternate.  Of whatever is left, if you only find good moves half the time, its at 75% and that is pretty bad.   Its that 10% from 90 to 100 that is difficult, and arguably consistently below 75% accuracy is fairly weak play.

I'm a beginner 750 currently and get the odd 90 plus. I've also had four occasions where I've received points from historical games. I guess the opponent's who cheat get cought eventually, not worth fretting about. Catches up with people in the end 👍
