AI silliness

I use the AI to learn the basics, and to get good at not blundering. I understand that most of the advice given to me is to just play humans, because that will improve my skills in a more…regardless, why did the programmers of this game make the AI do stupid stuff no human would do? For instance, why does the 1200 level AI move the King for no reason, putting it in a weaker position and thwarting a future castle? It feels like a completely stupid move just to nerf the skill of the bot and give me a chance. People don’t make those mistakes/choices, even at rating 400. Why program a computer to make obviously terrible moves just to give me a chance or to give me better tempo?

It feels like the AI will make both ludicrous choices for no reason, and then later in the game play exquisitely and not blunder once—like it plays at a 300 level here and there, and then 2000 level in the same game. I imagine it must be very difficult to balance AI to feel consistent.

Engines were made to find the best moves possible. It's hard to make engines play at lower rating levels and even harder to get them to play realistically at those levels

The attempt is achieved by decreasing how deep or long they search and changing some engine parameters that will make it play less optimally.
