We all have good and bad days. keep studying and playing, I am sure you will get better. I am not sure what time control you play but I prefer longer time controls. Gives you more time to think, less mouse slips, and more like actual OTB tournaments for the most part. Wish you the best of luck.
Bad Day/Sportsmanship

Just shake it off , learn and move on. I’ve done more stupid things than you, believe me. Like not castling early and getting mated lol even if I was drunk and still should of saw it.
Of all games being a tournament.

It’s part of the early learning and improving process so enjoy it while you can.
I've had similar situations arise when the internet connection is slow.
I've changed my move style from click/hold/drag to click piece/click destination square. That way, if the system is slow or I misclick, the piece does not move to an absurd square like when I click/hold/drag. Best regards.
Mike

For me personally say someone mouseslipped in a position where I would have declined a draw before the slip, I would not accept a draw. I might ask if my opponent wants to try to get back to the original position before the slip and then play from there though.

It is not bad sportsmanship to take advantage of a mistake. I don't care why you blundered, I will just take advantage of it.
Similarly, if I make a blunder due to a mouse slip (which I have), I just accept my fate. It's wrong to try and affix blame to your opponent for a mistake that you made.

I suppose that's true. I wasn't really trying to blame my opponent. I guess because I would accept the draw and rematch doesn't mean that others necessarily would do the same. It was just a disheartening way to end an already bad day of playing. It definitely wasn't my opponents fault that I misclicked, I recognize that.
After i made that misclick I just went and wailed on a punching bag for a half an hour. I'm just gonna take a break and rethink my approach to playing. I need to study. I've only been able to get to 900 in four months and somehow I'm just not happy with that.

That sounds tricky. 😆 My opponent wouldn't hear my pleas for a draw and rematch, but some people just really want those points. I've been in similar situations where an opponent mouseslipped or misclicked an obviously illogical move and I accepted a draw and had a rematch. But I can't expect others would do the same for me. I just need to study more and be careful when playing.
I believe that the best policy regarding mouse slips is to never expect your opponent to give you a takeback, and never give one to anyone else. Always following the rules is the best kind of sportsmanship. Sure, you'll lose a game every once in a while because of bad luck, but so what? It's just a chess game. Start a new one and move on--and learn to be more careful

It's difficult for me because I don't take losing very well. Especially because of something like a mouse slip. I'm currently in the process of trying to adjust my mentality in regards to losing and seeing it as a learning opportunity rather than just me seeing myself as an idiot. It's hard because I'm extremely competitive. Have been ever since I was a child. Some people handle losing very gracefully, I had to go and wail on a punching bag for a half hour after my last game. So there's definitely a mental / attitude adjustment that needs to happen in order for me to enjoy the game even when losing.
I don’t play rated games but you are much more skilled than I am, even on a good day. Cheer up, OP. Life is a series of peaks and valleys, and overall you are doing quite well. Much better than most of us.

Lol I doubt that. I am HORRID at chess. I have some really good days and then when I have bad days, they are BAAAAAAAAD. I appreciate the good vibes tho man.
Assuming I don’t get banned again, we will play sometime, and you will see. I wish I was 900+ as you are, but I have yet to get there.
Wishing you a good rest of your weekend … 🙂

Well I played horribly today, lost a bunch of points off my rating. I guess what I'm most frustrated about is my last game. I made an obvious misclick, not a mistake or even intended move, I was trying to pull my knight behind my king and somehow it moved my king back and undefended a pawn that I was trying to promote. I feel like in situations like that with such an obviously absurd error,, because there's no logic to such a move at all, that drawing the game and rematching it would be in good sportsmanship. But I don't know. I'm just really frustrated and I'm upset with myself. It just seems like bad sportsmanship to take advantage of such an obvious technical error and not even a bad move that lost the game. But I digress, I won't be playing much for a while. Just going to study and hope that I improve in the next week or two. Anyway I just needed to vent. Good vibes and well wishes to everyone.
