Hi,

I’m playing black and I attempted to develop my pieces by moving up my pawns to control the center; my opponent moved his pawns to d4 and e4, but as I tried to establish my Sicilian defense he took all 3 of my pawns I need for it and each time I was sure he was done, maybe just trying to score one time before he develops his pieces, but nope; he’s got his pesky pawn ready to take my dark bishop and queen, but I’m obviously done with this pawn and I have the option of taking it with my bishop, king and queen; I’m obviously not going to use the king because I’ll be exposing it, but this leads me to a major issue; if I take his pawn with my bishop then I’ll have a long clear line for it to play on which I think is good, but his queen and mine are already staring each other down and knowing this opponent I swear he’s going to take my queen at the cost of his own because as he was having fun taking all my pawns, I developed both my knights and one is in range to take his queen if he takes mine, which leads me to my other option; I could simply take his pawn with my queen thus moving it to safety away from his queen, but it doing so I’ll be blocking off my dark bishop and it won’t be able to move.

In this situation, what would you do? In my opinion, even though I’m new, I feel that my best advantage is my superior development compared to his single pawn blitzkrieg; if I block my dark bishop with my queen then I feel as though I’m losing that advantage and if he takes my queen with his, then I take his and I still have the advantage of development.

P.S. Thanks to his pawn my light square bishop is also able to move freely.

Best regards, John

I think I saw it.  No one is allowed to give you advice on an ongoing game.

Post again when the game is over.

Oh I didn’t know that was a rule; I already played my next move anyway and wasn’t looking for help, merely a discussion

However, I am still interested in knowing a good way to defeat an opponent like this, so I’ll be sure to post an update once the game is over.
