I've written a guide of sorts that can help you improve by giving you direction. It worked for me.
If you need anything else, just ask, and someone will help you out.
Welcome to the site, I hope you will enjoy your time here.

Hi Pollymed, I have a YouTube channel specifically aimed at helping beginners to improve and break through the 1000 rating point barrier. Follow these tips and you could be the next Beth Harman!

It is easier to help if we can see some of your games.

A good start, moves 1, 2 and 3 all develop and try to control the central squares. This is what you should try to do in the opening.
4.b4 This is a mistake losing a pawn. It also does not develop a piece or strive to control the centre. 4.d4 or 4.Bc4 were good choices.
5.Nb5 This is also a mistake. The knight doesn't attack anything on b5 and can be easily chased backwards so you will spend time faffing about with it instead of doing other more useful things like developing other pieces. A few things you could try here, 5.Nd5 attacks that Bb4. Bb2 is possible also.
10.Rc3 you have spent a bit of time doing this slightly weird rook manoever and lost that knight that you put on b5 earlier. This move though lets the black bishop capture your rook Bxc3. The rook is more valuable than the bishop so not a good trade for you. Luckily black didn't do it. Instead of this time consuming stuff with the rook it was better to castle your king to a safe spot 0-0.
11.Ra3 12.Rc3 why are you shuffling your rook back and forth, achieving nothing? You can use other pieces you know 😁
In the final position where you resigned you aren't losing because you have Bxc2!
First thing to do is don't lose your pieces. Easier said than done but always look to see if you are going to lose something. Ask yourself what your opponent is planning.
Second, try to control the centre of the board, get all your stuff into the game in the opening phase and castle your king. Do it as quickly as possible, don't waste time on stuff which doesn't achieve these things like b4 in this game.
Third, never resign. I guess you missed that you could go Bxc2 at the end of this game but I encourage you to play all your games to a finish. It's all good for learning and there is every chance your opponent might make a mistake like here.
