I recommend

1) Queen For A Day: The Girl's Guide To Chess Mastery, available on Amazon.com.

Readers get to play an entire chess game with a fictional character and at the same tim.

Not "all", but quite close to that.

As the book is old and not licensed, you can find it for free in various forms online.

Agreed. great book for the developing beginner and others as well. I am working through a free adaptation of the book at chessable:

Back when I was working on a Spanish Literature degree I wrote some essays on the history of chess. The sources I remember using include the following. If memory serves correct, the only one that has game analysis is the Great Predecessor series.

1. My great predecessors series by Gary Kasparov

2. Master Pieces by Gareth Williams

3. Birth of the Chess Queen by Marilyn Valom

4.  The immortal game by David Shenk
