I was doing the Combinations lesson in the Forcing Moves section, and one of the exercises landed me here. I did a screenshot so you could see the lesson comments.
I moved Nxf3, it responded, as expected, by taking the exposed knight Qxg4. The lesson called it incorrect, claiming I didn't see the whole board.
But isn't Rxh2 mate?
Wouldn't the better move for white have been Pxf3, rather than blundering into mate while telling me I'm not seeing the whole board?
Looking at the hint, I see the whole point is to sacrifice the queen to get rid of the e2 pawn, which is a good point to make, but wouldn't the lesson be better if it actually used that e2 pawn to prevent mate, especially if it was the only way to do it?
Rxh2 would be mate if you had time to play it.
Unfortunately, Qxg4 is check.
